When it comes to pregnancy there is a whole new language to learn and there are new terms that you will become familiar with and begin to talk about yourself. In no time at all you will talking about the different stages of prenatal development during each trimester, the benefits of folic acid, what an amniocentesis is, what a breech baby is and when you can expect your baby to engage and so much more.

If that is not daunting enough, knowing the right terminology in Spanish may present a whole new dimension to your learning. Whether you already know Spanish but just not any pregnancy terminology or if you know little Spanish but would like to be able to recognise the most used terms, our pregnancy dictionary should help you out a bit when it comes to having your baby in Spain.

¿Hay algún lugar en el que pueda amamantar a mi bebé? - Is there anywhere I can breastfeed my baby?

¿Tiene una trona? - Do your have a highchair?

Mi bebé pesa XX kilos - My baby weighs X kg

Tiene X meses - My baby is X months old

Es una niña/niño - It's a girl/boy

¿Me puede calentar esta botella/comida? - Can you heat this bottle/food?

Mi bebé es alérgico/a a productos lácteos/huevos/trigo/nueces... - My baby is allergic to dairy products/eggs/wheat/nuts
