Do You Instinctively Know When You Are Pregnant?

A couple of days ago I was reading about how some women instinctively “know” when they are pregnant. As missing your period is one of the first obvious symptoms of pregnancy, the article I read was in reference to the period of time before you notice your period is late. There wasn’t any mention of any particular symptoms and the article stated that some women say that they instinctively “know” when they are pregnant.

Psychosomatic or Real Instinct?

On one hand I believe that feeling you are pregnant before it’s confirmed and believing that you are pregnant is probably psychosomatic which to me is rooted in the belief that if your mind is telling you and almost willing you to be pregnant, then chances are, you may well be, especially if you have been planning for a baby. Someone trying to get pregnant is going to be more alert to the small changes in their body that anyone else would put down to natural fluctuations in the way your body deals with things month in month out. In this way, they may “spot” early indicators of pregnancy and say they instinctively knew.

On the other hand, I believe in gut instinct and therefore, I always thought that if I did fall pregnant at some point, I would also be one of those people who did feel like they instinctively knew. I usually trust gut instinct to guide me away from untrustworthy people and to think again if I feel like I have missed something or left something behind etc. Even though my boyfriend and I were both aware that I could have been pregnant from the precise day my period was due and didn’t come, I can confidently say I didn’t notice anything amiss at all during the early weeks!

Is Having “Baby Brain” a Symptom?!

However, looking back, perhaps putting the Dettol bleach spray into the fridge one day and then the milk into the tea bag cupboard another day during the week my period was due was an early “baby brain” signal? Were my nipples a little darker already or was that just down to the topless sunbathing? Where was the usual chocolate-craving and backache the day before my period was due to start? Were these all the signals I should have “instinctively” registered?

Maybe it all comes down to listening to such signals and taking notice of them. Usually I would put this absent-mindedness down to being preoccupied about something so I wonder whether my sub-conscience was trying to tell me something after all!

Baby Massage & Essential Oils

What better way to bond with your baby than with a spot of baby massage!

Baby Massage has been around for a while now but it’s not every day you stumble across baby massage classes complete with a whole host of information about using essential oils on your baby as the My Baby Spain team have done this week!

Michelle Julian is an independent distributor of Young Living essential oils in Spain (michellejulianyoungliving@gmail.com // 952 929 860 or 695 845 419) and has been enlightening us on baby massage classes available here in Spain, massage techniques as well as the most appropriate essential oils to use to aid the bonding benefits of baby massage.

Benefits of Baby Massage

The relaxing and calm-inducing benefits that you would gain from a massage are generally the same benefits your baby can benefit from and more!

Infant Massage can:

* Strengthen a strong bond of love and trust between a parent and their child
* Improve general well-being
* Help with colic & solve constipation
* Encourages baby’s development
* Helps aid better and longer sleep
* Enhances neurological development
* Improves body’s ability to digest all good nutrients

Your baby will also benefit from the sense of security and protection when in your hands and it will also encourage social development through touch and communication.

How Do Essential Oils Help Baby Massage?

Specially formulated blends of essential oils can not only solve nagging stomach and digestive problems but they can also stimulate physical development or improve immune functioning. And it’s not just for baby massage that essential oils can help, using a special oil diffuser around the home and during pregnancy and labour can also help the mother to be.

We think the Everyday Oils Collection by Young Living Essential Oils makes for a great investment as it works out more financially viable to purchase a few oils as a set and they are so versatile they can be used all over the house for you, your baby and your whole family. You can contact Michelle direct to find out more about ordering diffusers and oils in Spain.
